Paper mills have announced a paper price increase of $2.50 per hundredweight for publication-grade stocks—all basis weights, finishes, and grades—that will take effect this month. This represents a 5% percent increase over current pricing.

Publication paper prices have been stable for the last 10 months due to consistent demand. That said, demand declined at the end of 2024, prompting mills to float price increases. The mills have now formalized these increases. They are based on a variety of factors, including the cost of raw materials, energy, labor and transportation, and supply-demand fundamentals. Furthermore, high interest rates and geopolitical issues, including trade tensions and economic sanctions, factor in and may potentially drive prices up further in 2025.
