Congratulations to several Lane Press customers for being honored recently with distinguished industry awards. These honors are a testament to the hardwork and high standards of our customer publications.
Florida Magazine Association Awards
Lane Press congratulates customer Florida International Magazine for winning several Awards in this year’s Florida Magazine Association (FMA) Charlie Awards Competition. The Charlie Awards honor excellence, from photography to headlines, of publications in the state. This year’s awards were presented at the Charlie Awards Gala, which was held at the conclusion for the annual FMA Publishing Conference in August. A perennial winner of Charlie competition awards, Florida International Magazine won the following awards this year (all in the category of Consumer Magazines with 50,000 plus circulation): Charlie Award (Gold) Best Single, Original Color Photo “Adventures on Rocks” by Thijs Heslenfeld Charlie Award (Gold) Best Cover Phyllis Pesaturo Charlie Award (Gold) Best Special Theme or Show Issue “Showtime” VegNews Wins WPA and Nichee Magazine Awards Lane Press congratulates new customer, VegNews, for winning three 2009 industry awards for publishing excellence. VegNews, the premier magazine focused on vegetarian lifestyle, is published by The LLCVegNews Network. The Western Publishing Association (WPA) honored VegNews this year with two awards: editorial honors among Lifestyles & Alternative Lifestyles/Consumer publications for their July/August 2008 issue, and ‘Best Web Publication’ among consumer websites. The WPA’s Maggie Awards program honors excellence in editorial, design, and promotion of both print and electronic magazines in the western United States. The highly popular Niche Conference also honored VegNews with a ‘Nichee Magazine Award’ for Best Niche Digital, recognizing VegNews’ online publishing efforts. The Niche Conference, which took place in Denver, Colorado in late April, is tailored to small- and medium-size target-audience publishers. Rhode Island Monthly Wins CRMA Award The winners of the 24th Annual National City and Regional Magazine Awards were announced at this summer’s CRMA conference in New Orleans. Long-time Lane Press customer, Rhode Island Monthly, won an award for best e-newsletter, The Dish. Rhode Island Monthly was also a finalist in two categories: Food or Dining Writing, and Community Service. The University of Missouri School of Journalism has been coordinating the 24-year-old competition on behalf of CRMA for the past 13 years. More than 85 judges representing publications such as The Atlantic, Esquire, and, Better Homes and Gardens, as well as journalism professors from the Missouri School of Journalism, selected this year’s finalists. CASE Circle of Excellence Awards The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) recently recognized a number of Lane Press customers for excellence in alumni magazine publishing. CASE is a professional organization for advancement professionals at all levels working in alumni relations, communications, and development. The CASE Circle of Excellence Awards is an international program that recognizes the work of CASE members. The awards acknowledge superior accomplishments that have a lasting impact, demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, and deliver exceptional results.
