Back in November, we announced several initiatives underway to upgrade equipment in our bindery. We are happy to report the upgrades have been completed, and the new equipment is fully tested and officially online. Here is a summary of the enhanced capabilities now available to you.

Our new Harris 805 Saddle Stitcher (the “S20”) is running at speeds of up to 15,000 books per hour (bph), which has doubled from the speed of our former 8-pocket stitcher. The S20 has 20 pockets, expandable to 32 pockets, which allows us to provide you with a broad range of selective binding capabilities. 

The new Harris UB Binder 224 (the “PB24”) at Lane Press is also producing at speeds of up to 15,000 bph. The PB24 has 24 pockets with the ability to expand to 28 pockets, which is an increase of 4 pockets from our previous binder. This increase of pockets is allowing Lane Press to bind magazines with higher page counts and provide more options for inserts. 

Available on all Lane Press saddle stitchers and perfect binders are inkjet printing capabilities, which have been enhanced with the recent upgrades. A new inkjet control system has been installed on all binders and stitchers and features the most current controller technology available. This standardization enables Lane Press to access mail files directly from a server, and provides more efficiency in managing our inkjet system. Inkjet printing is great for providing personalized messages (both inside and outside the magazine) to refer your readers to a specific page or event, and you can provide different messages to different subscribers. Also with inkjet printing, you can print addresses and/or codes on order forms to then be tracked later. We also have the ability to inkjet onto polywrap. Contact your Customer Service Representative to find out how you can qualify for inkjet printing.
