Printing is the science of managing color and controlling variables to create a desired result. Color management—from the work in prepress, to the testing in our ink lab, to the expertise of our pressmen—is a fine balance between craftsmanship and advanced technology. We are publication printers

The presses we use to print magazines are considered our “tools of the trade” for the craftsmen at Lane Press who print millions of pages every hour. Our heatset web presses produce 32-, 16-, 8-, and 4-page signatures. We have cover presses designed to handle the heavier paper stocks and to finish the covers with varnish or UV coatings.  We can apply film laminate to covers when an extra degree of protection is required. We have presses that are dedicated to printing the interior pages, presses that are capable of the high volumes associated with the inside of the book. Our multi-color high-speed presses have inline combination and double former folders to create the signatures to your specifications. We produce a variety of publication formats from standard to tabloid. Our sheetfed presses print blow-in cards, inserts, and any other ancillary projects that are more suited to a sheetfed press.

We have the best press operators in the industry, many of whom have more than four decades of experience to guide them in the art and science of putting ink on paper. Our skilled craftsmen easily balance the chemistry of the ink, paper, and blanket surfaces; the heat and high speed to deliver the finest color reproduction possible for your publication. It is the intuitive sense for when a job is “right” combined with the expertise to finesse the high-speed presses that separates the work of our pressmen from others in the industry.

Press Technology

The press operators at Lane Press use advanced press technology to ensure predictable and repeatable results. The press operators have the tools to get every job up to color with minimum waste. While we strive for a fast and efficient make-ready, we never compromise quality. We have a comprehensive QA process that is our assurance to you: if there is an issue, we will find it, communicate it, and make it right.

We continually invest in the best technology and equipment so that our pressmen have the tools they need to successfully produce each publication.  Our recent acquisition of a new MAN Roland Rotoman adds Closed Loop Color and Color-to-Color Registration (CCR) control, giving us sophisticated systems for controlling cut-off register and ink density. The Rotoman can run at rates up to 70,000 impressions per hour, for short make-ready and change-over times, and predictable results—features our pressmen leverage to maintain our standards for delivering the highest quality product every time.
